I am currently studying BA Fine Art at Plymouth College of Art. I take direct inspiration from my everyday life, challenging myself to delve into the daily events of the journeys we go through in life. Using Cameras, found objects, old clothes, teddies and recycled materials I can create my own imaginings.

Back Home

All good things must come to an end.
Focusing on my return to the house in which I have grown up in, the work surrounds the mixed emotions of the present situation.
My old clothes lay on the floor like shed skin, my legs lay flat with no intention of going anywhere any time soon. I'm becoming part of the furniture.

The Intention

Inhabiting two homes, getting caught in between. The past and the uncertain future.

Family

An interest of mine, is our associations with certain objects and how objects become prompts for recollection.    I'm fascinated by the way in which we keep certain objects for years, as mementoes of a past time and place. I enjoy representing myself and people with objects that belong to them, making the things we surround ourselves with part of who we are.

I created a Family Portrait with each person being represented by their very own tooth. Within the personal stories associated with teeth and loosing them as children as well as adults, there is the collective experience that exists.

The Listener

A family group is made of individual characters, each person has a role to play and my title as 'the listener' called for this piece to be created. A self portrait if you will. This was a poignant moment, where my gaze was focused entirely on myself and surrounded who I was at that time and place.

House of Worries

Recycling materials that are seen as comforting, such as clothes, teddies and felt, a family of characters were created, each representing a person who exist in my own family group. Challenging the existing worries of everyday life  in our home, the work offers comfort along with masking the seriousness within its context.

Origin Unknown

Taking everyday found objects, placing them together and creating something quite alien.

Freedom to Play

I wanted to bring back the sense of play into a world where everyone grows up ever so quickly, dressing up the volunteers in costumes and taking on another persona I then released them into the moorland. They embraced their roles, exploring and playing away like carefree children again.
